Florida Gyrocopter Man To Run For Congress

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) - A Tampa area man who landed a gyrocopter on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol as a political protest plans to run for Congress.
Douglas Hughes has filed paperwork to run for the 23rd Congressional District which Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has represented for years.
Hughes, who lives in Ruskin, was arrested April 15th and has since pleaded guilty to felony for violating restricted airspace. He will be sentenced next year. As a felon, he will not be able to vote for himself, but his lawyers argue that the conviction does not make him ineligible to run for Congress.
