MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Welcome to Apeiro Kitchen and Bar in Midtown.

"Apeiro in Greek means infinity," said Chef David Blonsky.

This cool and sophisticated space is both modern and elegant. Chef David Blonsky and his business partner Burt Rapoport opened its first location in Delray earlier this year. For this new location, they kept with the concept that works.

"From the olive oil chandelier to the unique architecture and lighting, the colors, the tiles. It's all representative of the vision of modern take of Mediterranean," Blonsky said.

And what they serve on the plate is fun and flavorful food found all over the Mediterranean.

"We wanted to really touch on the regions of the Mediterranean that really stood out to me as a chef. The coasts of Spain, France, Greece, Turkey and Morocco," he said.

Chef Blonksy says it's about finding diversity and flavor in simple dishes. "It's a unique way of taking simple dishes and simple ingredients and making a really delicious final product."

In the open kitchen, he cooks up some Bar Harbor mussels and then plates an Apeiro favorite -- Hamachi yellowtail with aji panca, citrus, toasted sesame seed, aged balsamic and Hawaiian pink salt -- which is where CBS4's Lisa Petrillo's tasting begins.

"The Hamachi is so fresh. The panca sauce has a kick. I definitely taste the spice but it has so many flavors," Petrillo said.

Next, the Bar Harbor Mussels. The sauce is saffron cream broth with roasted cherry tomatoes, fresh garlic and white wine. And don't forget the grilled ciabatta bread for dipping.

"It's straight out of Maine. The mussels are so fresh and delicious and that saffron sauce is making me want more," she said.

Finally a classic Greek Chicken Pita with marinated chicken thighs and charred peppers and onions with yogurt, fresh roasted garlic, hummus and fresh greens.

"I'm in Greece on a yacht or even in a side sandwich bar and this is my sandwich. It's a Greek grilled yummy delicious sandwich," Petrillo gushed.

Apeiro Kitchen and Bar where modern design mixes tastefully with old world flavors.

Apeiro Kitchen and Bar is opened 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, Saturday and Sundays brunch and dinner.
