MIAMI (CBSMiami) – All year long, the Miami Dolphins help spread joy around the South Florida community and this holiday season they are helping to spread that joy to kids at the Doctors Hospital training facility at Nova University in Davie.

Tuesday afternoon, players, coaches, cheerleaders and even mascot T.D. took part in a holiday toy event for kids from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The team takes part in this toy giveaway every year as a way to bring smiles to the faces of kids and give back to the community.

"Going through the things we go through on the football field, you lose sight of some things in life, so to be able to take a step back and realize what's important and be able to share time and the true spirit of the holidays with these kids, it really puts things into perspective," said Miami Dolphins Quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

At Tuesday's event, the kids played games, danced, played a little football and then each child was given a toy from their wish list.

"This feels like a priviledge that I'm very happy to have," said 4th grader Steven Eelus.

"It's like, someone just took me to heaven," said 5th grader John Adams.

Players and coaches collaborated together to pay for and provide all the toys that were handed out.
