MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- As world leaders gather in Paris for the United Nations Climate Summit, or COP21, South Floridians are putting on the pressure for them to find a solution to climate change.

Local groups are set to gather at the French consulate in Miami to urge leaders at the summit to come up with a legally binding global warming and climate change agreement.

They also plan to deliver a letter of urgency to Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of COP 21 Laurent Fabius.

As a low elevation land, Florida is under threat from rising sea levels due to climate change.

The move comes just a day after President Barack Obama arrived in Paris for the COP21 summit under heightened security due to the deadly terror attacks that happened this month.

The president is meeting with leaders of various countries from the worlds largest green house emitters to those most at risk from climate change. Together they are reportedly trying to find a way to reduce global emissions through a legally binding agreement that will lower emissions.

Obama is said to be pushing for an agreement that will put in place a long-term framework that provides incentives for countries to drop their emission levels over time.  Also, the agreement would possibly provide financial and technical support to the poorest and most vulnerable countries.
