OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) -- Jason Mincey is looking for answers, trying to figure out why his brother and cousin were shot in Oakland Park overnight Monday.

"I know it was messed up, cause how they came and just started shooting. It don't make no sense," he said.

It happened at 1:30 a.m. just steps away from Chris Mincey's apartment at 2930 NW 29th Street.

"I guess when they jumped out my cousin [Eugene Randall] had to turn around and he was closest to the car and got hit first," Jason Mincey said. "My cousin, Randall, was shot in the chest, his side and his leg."

Jason Mincey's brother, Chris Mincey, was hit in the arm.

Left behind are markings of where bullet casings were found in the street.

Neighbors said there was a lot of gunfire – at least five shots.

"Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop...like that," said Joe Giddeon, explaining the sound of the shots.

He lives on the first floor and was just feet away from the gunfire. He was in bed and didn't dare go near the window for fear of getting hit.

Jason Mincey told CBS4 it appears that violence erupted because of jealousy over a woman.

"The guy had sent her a text and he got mad and called his homeboys and they came and shot up the scene," he said. "It's crazy!"

Now BSO detectives are trying to figure out who pulled up and opened fire.

"Our homicide investigators are now looking into the case," said BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion. "[They're] obviously trying to determine what happened, what lead to the shooting and who might have shot these two individuals."

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493- TIPS. There is an up to $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
