Police Find Escaped Prisoner In West Miami-Dade

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Authorities found an escaped prisoner in West Miami-Dade County on Wednesday afternoon.
Miami-dade Police said they caught him near 73rd Avenue and NW 35th Street. As of Wednesday evening, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
They said he went for a swim following his escape earlier the same day.
Chopper 4 was over the scene during the search as Miami-Dade Police could be seen in the area of NE 36th Street and NW 72nd Avenue.
Police appeared to have closed off part of a nearby intersection for a bit, causing some traffic tie ups in the area.
Officers have not released the prisoners name. They did say he was arrested for a number of burglaries and was also wanted in a robbery case.
It is unclear how he escaped.
