MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A 17-year old who was arrested with a loaded gun at school will remain in custody.

On Thursday, Jason Villatoro was not in court, but his mother was outside of the courtroom. She did not have much to say but defended her son.

"He s a very good kid...he has his attorney," she said.

Just a day before, police showed up at Miami Jackson Senior High to arrest Villatoro for another violent crime.

According to his arrest report, he was also accused of pointing a gun at another student, off campus. When police found him, they searched him and said they found a loaded gun in his waistband.

Miami-Dade School officials said they are assisting police in the ongoing investigation on the incidents.

Police charged Villatoro with two felonies -- aggravated assault with a firearm and using a gun while committing a felony.

His next hearing is set for November 25th.
