CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) -- An investigation is underway after a woman was found dead inside her home.

Coral Springs Police said they responded to reports of shots fired early Tuesday morning in the area of 4700 N.W. 87 Lane. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Marilyn Clark-Bevins, 60, suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was transported to Broward Health North and was later pronounced dead.

Clark-Bevins was a respiratory therapist at Broward Health. Her stunned neighbors said her husband was out of town on a business trip and their adult son had moved back in with them recently.

"We knew them, they are very good people. We have no problem with them, we interact with them very well, they are good neighbors," said Millie Kotei, who lives nearby.

Police said the 911 call came from someone inside the home but didn't say who made it. They also confirmed that the victim's husband was out of town.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Coral Springs Police Department at (954) 346-1219.
