PBSO Asks FBI To Investigate Corey Jones Shooting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office announced Friday it has asked the FBI to investigate the Corey Jones shooting.
On Friday evening, a town hall meeting was being held to discuss the shooting involving an officer that left Jones dead on the side of I-95.
Jones' family, their attorney, friends, local leaders and police all gathered at a South Florida church to find a way to improve the relationship between the Palm Beach community and police which many in the community say they don't trust.
Jones' family has fought for justice all week after a police officer wearing plain clothes, with no badge, shot and killed the 31-year old drummer Sunday morning.
He was waiting for roadside assistance on I-95 after his vehicle broke down when Officer Nouman Raja pulled up in an unmarked van. The two scuffled and Jones' ran away, his gun found away from his body.
Officer Raja shot at Jones' six times, three bullets hitting him. Jones never fired his gun.
News of the FBI's involvement is going over well.
"It's a good thing. We wanted, whatever the result is, we want it to come from someone that the community could feel that the source is fair and impartial. So, it's a good thing," said Attorney Byrnes Guillaume.
Guillaume expects several hundred people to show up to the town hall to brainstorm ways of improving the relationship between the community and the police as well as ways to prevent something like this from happening again.
