OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) -- Dozens of cars were broken into overnight in an Oakland Park apartment complex, prompting an investigation.

Chopper4 was over the scene of The Lake View apartment complex near the 2800 block of N. Oakland Forrest Drive where at least 24 cars were broken into.

Deputies said just after 6 a.m., they started getting calls regarding a series of car burglaries.

Giovani Ghiradelli was awakened by police with bad news about her white Hyundai Sonata.

"They knock on my door at 9:30 a.m. I had just woken up and they said 'your car has been broken into.' I thought it was just my car and I came outside and saw there were plenty of cars that got broken into as well," said Ghiradelli.

The crooks got into Zaza Parker's Buick, smashing through the sun roof --putting a lot of financial burden on her.

"I was quoted $2,200 for repairs but I have a $500 deductible I have to pay out of pocket," said Parker.

At last check, detectives were conducting interviews and reviewing evidence.

The burglaries comes just days after dozens of other cars were also broken into in two gated Oakland park communities.

Investigators told those residents, the culprits hopped the fence and they're looking mostly for money to buy drugs. It is unclear if that is the case for Thursday's break-ins.

For those in the business of auto glass repair, it's been a box office business.

"We get so many calls of like their glass broken everywhere," said Raul Cabrera with Power Window World.

Police are not sure if a single ring is responsible for the car break-ins in all of the locations.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Broward Crimestoppers at (954) 493- TIPS.
