Mega Pet Adoption Marathon Kicks Off At Midnight

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - If you've been thinking about adding a furry friend to your household, Saturday just might be your day.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami, along with the ASPCA, Miami-Dade Animal Services and The Cat Network, will be holding a 24 Hour Mega Match-a-thon pet adoption event at Tropical Park on Bird Road.

The marathon kicks off at midnight on Friday and goes to midnight on Saturday.

"We are very excited to once again partake in the Mega Match-a-thon and enrich the lives of so many families by bringing these wonderful pets into their homes and their hearts," said Laurie Hoffman, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. "The more we adopt, the more we can save!"

The event gives people thinking about a pet the chance to meet , fall in love with and adopt one or more of dozens of adorable cats, kittens, dogs and puppies at a low cost.

But that's not all. There will be a Kid's Festival as well as live entertainment, vendors and food trucks.
