DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- It would appear Kevin Coyle's time as the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator is coming to an end.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team reached out to free agent coach Jim Schwartz to join Miami's staff. The former Lions head coach from 2009-13 is currently working with NFL officials after having the role of Bills defensive coordinator last season.
Unless they shockingly opt to stick with Coyle, despite multiple reports of players being at odds with his coaching, the Dolphins figure to either upgrade a defensive positions coach or look at someone else on the outside.
The Dolphins don't play again until a week from Sunday in Tennessee when Dan Campbell will make his debut as head coach.
