MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A family is pleading for any bit of information after a driver hit and dragged a 52-year old man on his bike, leaving him for dead on a busy Miami Gardens street.

Jacques Jean-Baptiste was killed when a car hit him on NW 27th Avenue and 160th Street Sunday night.

Jean-Baptiste's sister, Edeline Louis-Jean, happened to drive by the crash never realizing it was her own brother who lay dying in the middle of the street.

"I saw like 10 police cars," said Louis-Jean. "And then I saw the yellow ribbon and the person on the floor. I feel very, very bad."

Jean-Baptiste was Louis-Jean's youngest brother, and even at 52 she said she looked after him now just as much as when they were kids.

She wants the person who left him for dead in the middle of street to pay for it.

"If you have problem with Jacques, you have problem with me," she told CBS4 reporter Donna Rapado.

"So you're very protective of him?" asked Rapado.

"I am. He's my brother," explained Louis-Jean. "You drag the person, you come back again, you look at the person on the floor while you can give that person first aid and then you don't even take that into consideration and you just go.  So, I need justice.  Something has to happen."

The Florida Highway Patrol told CBS4 it is investigating.

Anyone with information can call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers anonymously at (305) 471-TIPS.
