FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Fort Lauderdale Police are investigating a shooting that broke out at a busy shopping center that sent one man to the hospital and grazed another.

"It was heavy gunfire. It was babies. People was running.  It was total chaos," said one witness who did not want to be identified.

According to witnesses, everything was business as usual at the shopping center off Sunrise Blvd. and NW 10th Ave. until an argument between two parties broke out in the parking lot shortly after 7:00 p.m.

"All of a sudden they just started shooting at each other, like two persons shooting back and forth," said another witness who only wanted to be identified as Mike.

"I ran for cover, I ran for my life and praying for the Lord to come and save me," said a witness.

One witness was not only worried for his life but for his family, who was getting done grocery shopping.

"I basically was trying to see where he was pointing his gun at because I had my family in the car so I was trying to make sure he didn't point it in my direction," said Mike.

According to police, one of the men involved in the argument was grazed by a bullet, while another who was shot was transported to the hospital.

Witnesses are just relieved no innocent bystanders were hurt.

"It's really sad because somebody innocent could have gotten hit, a child could have been hurt," said Mike.

If you have any information on the shooting, contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
