Al Golden: 'Unforced Errors' Biggest Frustration of Cincy Loss

Interviews-wqam

What's the biggest frustration of Miami losing to Cincy last Thursday night?

"The unforced errors, Joe," Miami's Al Golden said on the Joe Rose Show. "I don't know if you saw the game but we're moving the ball early and we have a first and goal at the plus-10 and we get a clipping penalty that put us 2nd and 20 at the 33. Had to kick a field goal there. Then we had a false start on the 32. The next time it was made at 1st and 15 and we had to kick a field goal there. We had a holding on another Corn Elder punt return. That would be three for him on the year.

"A lot of unforced errors. As I've been saying, if we don't clean up the penalties and play the game smarter and more disciplined it's gonna keep making us vulnerable. It's not gonna allow us to play at the level we need to play and we didn't play well enough in all three phases to win the game."

Who's it fall back on?

"It's me," Golden said. "Absolutely me. I got to get the guys to understand that for us to truly get our talent into the game and to be a consistent team... again penalties are going to occur, I understand that. They're a part of the game but when you're getting the pre-snap operational penalties or you're getting things that are reoccurring, we've got to get it fixed. From a discipline standpoint I'm responsible for that."
