MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An elderly man was shot and killed in Little Havana early Sunday morning.

Nearly 12 hours later detectives are still walking around handing out these flyers to neighbors looking for any information about what happened.

Police are not saying much at this point.

CBS4's Donna Rapado did speak to neighbors who preferred staying off camera because the shooter is still on the run, and they don't want to get involved.

Alberto Rodriguez lives in an apartment just 10 feet from where Fontaine collapsed.

Rodriguez showed Rapado where Fontaine fell from the gunshot wound right by the door to Rodriguez's own car outside at the corner of S.W. 4th Street and 5th Avenue.

He said he heard commotion outside his apartment window Sunday morning, as two women and Fontaine exited the 73-year old's car, a silver 4-door parked in front of Rodriguez's.

Suddenly he heard a gunshot and the women yelling at a man by name, telling him to run.  The name Rodriguez heard was not the victim's, he said.

Rodriguez said Fontaine lived in the three-story apartment building across the street from his, a hard worker who was always taking jobs cleaning yards, his pick-up also parked in front of the buildings.

Another man tells CBS4 that he heard arguing this morning outside his window when a man walked up to 73-year old Omelio Fontaine and shot him in the chest.

Then a woman came out of a three-story corner building where Fontaine's truck is parked, she shouted at one of the men, presumably the shooter, telling him to go away.

Police need information about what happened.  They are working to find this person who shot 73-year old Fontaine, sun shining, kids sleeping indoors just feet away.

A school located directly across from the shooting, on the southeast corner of S.W. 4th Street and 5th Avenue, has security cameras that may help police.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 now for information leading to the killer's arrest.
