Pensacola Man Among 6 Airmen Killed In Afghanistan Crash

PENSACOLA (CBSMiami/AP) — The Department of Defense said six American airmen, including one man from Pensacola, were killed when a U.S. Air Force military transport plane crashed in eastern Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said Saturday that 29-year-old Senior Airman Nathan Sartain was one of the six crew members of the Air Force C-130J plane that went down Friday at Jalalabad air field, about 80 miles from the capital of Kabul.

Sartain was assigned to the 66th Security Forces Squadron at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

The other airmen identified were: Capt. Jonathan Golden, 33, of Camarillo, California; Capt. Jordan Pierson, 28, of Abilene, Texas; Staff Sgt. Ryan Hammond, 26, of Moundsville, West Virginia; Senior Airman Quinn Johnson-Harris, 21, of Milwaukee; and Airman 1st Class Kcey Ruiz, 21, of McDonough, Georgia.

Also killed were five civilian passengers and an unknown number of people on the ground.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
