MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Several employees at the Juvenile Detention Center in Miami-Dade, including three supervisors, have fired following the death of a 17-year old inmate.

The five staffers, including three supervisors, were terminated for failing to oversee detained children and falsifying official reports, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.

Elord Revolte, 17, died in late August after he was attacked by more than a dozen detainees.

Miami-Dade police and the state's Department of Juvenile Justice are investigating Revolte's death.

Revolte was in foster care and ran away from a Miami Beach foster home in July.

Police reports show on August 28th Revolte and another boy robbed a man of his cellphone on Miami Beach, on the corner of Washington and 9th Street. He ended up in the juvenile detention facility on Northwest 27th Avenue, where according to investigators, a fight broke out between 15 to 20 inmates. During the fight, Revolte was injured.

Police said medical personnel checked him out immediately, but he wasn't transported to Holtz Children's Hospital until the next day, and he died shortly after.
