2015 NFL Week 4: Jets Vs. Dolphins Predictions, Point Spreads And Free NFL Picks

By Abraham Gutierrez

With Joe Philbin's job on the line, the (1-2) Miami Dolphins will have to defy the NFL Week 4 odds in order to ensure their head coach makes the trip back to South Florida on the team's payroll. That's because the (2-1) New York Jets, who'll make the trip across the pond as betting ATS favorites, are expected to send this into a tailspin by winning this crucial AFC East showdown.

NFL Week 4 Point Spreads

All indications are that, if NFL oddsmakers are correct, the Dolphins organization could abruptly find itself in the eye of the storm once the Wembley Stadium clock hits triple-zeros. As of Thursday morning, Todd Bowles' Jets [-3] are listed as favorites by a field goal over Philbin's Dolphins [+3] in the ATS department. Meanwhile, the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 41 points, and straight-up betting lines have New York's S.U. value -125 and Miami's chances of an upset equal +105.

Jets-Dolphins 2015 ATS Betting Action (Week 4)

Unfortunately, it seems like there's no light at the end of this tunnel, as Philbin's days as head coach of the Dolphins appear to be numbered. ATS action for this intradivisional clash indicates that the majority of the betting population believes Gang Green will hand Miami its third loss of the young season.

At the present time, 52 percent of all wagers registered have been for the Jets to cover at -2. In turn, only 48 percent of the betting population has faith that Miami is good enough to go into the United Kingdom and come away with either a win, or worst-case scenario, lose by three points or less.

Jets-Dolphins Head-to-Head ATS Stats

Sunday's matinee marks the 100th time these old rivals have crossed paths, which means there's no shortage of ATS information to revise. For what it's worth, Philbin would be glad to know that the underdog is 5-1 (against the spread) the last five times the Jets and Fins have met, which obviously plays into Miami's favor.

Also supporting a Dolphins ATS bet is the fact that this team has proven to be a resilient bunch. Miami comes in with a 7-3 record in its last 10 games after a double-digit loss at home, but unfortunately, that's where the positive stats end.

Dolphins ATS Stats Prior To Week 4

Strangely enough, games played in Week 4 have proven to be a bit of a nuisance for Miami. The Fins are 3-7 in their last 10 games in Week 4, and with a 2-5 mark, have performed poorly – in their last seven contests – after the "D" has allowed more than 250 passing yards the week prior.

But that's not where the Dolphins' ATS obstacles end heading into this one. This Dolphins team is 1-4 after a straight-up loss and following games in which they've scored 15 points or less, 2-8 after allowing more than 30 points, 1-5 following an ATS loss and on grass, and finally, 1-7 after a straight-up loss of more than 14 points, and in their last eight games overall.

Jets ATS Stats Prior To Week 4

Not only are ATS trends much kinder to the Jets, but if accurate, could spell the end of Philbin's less-than stellar coaching career in Miami. Seemingly unbeatable in these types of situations, New York is 6-0 against the AFC in its last six ATS appearances.

The Jets are also 5-1 in their last six ATS games overall, as well as in contests where they've tallied less than 90 rushing yards the week prior. As if all that didn't sound pleasing enough to Jets fans, this club is also 4-1 after straight-up and ATS losses, 3-1 after allowing less than 250 total yards, and against AFC East foes, have gone 5-2 in their last seven intradivisional affairs.
