MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade has been in the spotlight a lot recently. Not just for his hoop skills, but also on Twitter and for the new issue of Ocean Drive Magazine.

In the magazine, he opened up about returning to Miami for his 13th season, taking fashion risks, his wife Gabrielle Union, being a dad and much more.

His South Florida lifestyle is making big waves.

The NBA player, known for his keen sense of style, will grace the cover of October's men's issue of Ocean Drive Magazine.

"Miami showing me love, so I'm glad I can get back on the cover, grace the cover of Ocean Drive," Wade said. "They've always been big supporters of ours, so I'm trying to make it look good."

He talked about balancing life as basketball player, dad, husband and businessman – and said he also has to fit in some vacation time with friends.

He also said he needs to prioritize time with his son and nephew who he has custody of, who are both 13 years old, and make them feel comfortable having conversations with him.

On his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, he said, "She can give me a different perspective sometimes; support, other times.  My wife is very, very smart when it comes to everything in life.  She's been through a lot.  She's seen a lot."

CBS4 caught up with Wade at practice Tuesday, when he learned of a special name his wife called him on Twitter.

"What did she say now? I didn't even know she called me that – she called me honey booboo? I didn't know, I was getting ready for training camp.  That's my wife," he said.

The NBA star also talked to Ocean Drive Magazine about taking fashion risks, saying he's not the guy who cares about people's reactions, and that he's comfortable pushing boundaries and doing things people might not understand.
