MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Police are searching for two girls who they suspect are the victims of a parental abduction.

Police believe Keilyn and Krystal Martinez were taken by their parents, Christi Vigo Rezkala and Erlin Martinez, who do not have legal custody of them.

Keilyn, who is 4-years old, and her 3-year-old sister were last seen Sunday at their grandmother's home at 2853 SW 23rd Street.

Though investigators are concerned and want to bring the girls back home, they have not issued an Amber Alert, because as of Tuesday night, they did not believe there was a direct threat to their safety.

Department of Children and Families employees were seen at the home Monday night as police continued their search.

Police haven't said why the parents lost custody of little Keilyn and Krystal but it's clear they want to find them.

A neighbor told CBS4 the grandmother has cared for them for the past six months. The neighbor, who did not want her name used, said the girls were happy, clean, well-cared for and well behaved.

Another neighbor, Yerany Ramirez, told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "I'm so sad. They take the kids away. I used to see them playing."

"I feel very sad. I had a case like that when I could not see my daughters for 10 years. It is a pain that one carries inside and I would like them to look for the children so the grandmother will not be sad," said neighbor Myra Fulmero.

Fulmero added, "This lady, this grandmother, she was an older lady and we used to see her taking the children to Publix. One of them would ride a bike. They were small girls."

"Yes it is good to know where your children are, so she doesn't feel like that. I feel very bad because of what is happening."

Martinez has a criminal record in Hillsborough County. His arrests included charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence from back in February. Miami Police said the assault was against Rezkala, not their little girls.

The state dropped the charge, for lack of a witness and Rezkala petitioned the court to take away Martinez's custody for the domestic violence charge but then she failed to show up to court.

D'Oench asked Miami Police spokeswoman, Officer Frederica Burden if police thought the couple may have returned to Hillsborough County. Burden said detectives were not sure where the couple went.
