Storytime with Channing Crowder is an endless barrage of golden nuggets. Like the time former Florida Gators head coach Ron Zook -- Crowder's coach at UF -- once kicked a teammate "in his face."

"Casey Griffith, have you heard that name? Nobody has because he was a long snapper for Florida," Crowder said on Hochman, Crowder and Krantz. "Ron Zook kicked him in his face at practice."

Do tell, Channing.

"I think it was Eastern Michigan," Crowder said. "He snapped the ball over Eric Wilbur's head. I don't know how I remember these Slappy McDougle names but I do. He snapped the ball over the punter's head and we gave them the ball on like the 10 on that snap. Ron Zook was a special teams guy. The long snapper -- he was a walk-on. He was a really silly guy. He was like the life of the party. He always had jokes. The next day at practice, Ron Zook stands in front of him and says 'Casey, you better not snap the ball over Eric's head again this season, just talking crap.'

"So now he has Casey Griffith scared. He's standing in front of Casey, he's down in a four-point stance getting ready to snap. First snap, he snaps it over Eric's head. He stays down in his stance and snaps his head up to see Zook, looks Zook in the eyes and then Zook puts his foot on his facemask and kicks and kicks Casey Griffith onto his butt... And then Zook said 'do it again' and walked away. "

Thankfully Crowder was never the target of Zook's boot or we may have never seen his NFL or radio career.

"If I was to miss a tackle and Ron Zook put his foot on my facemask and kicked, Ron Zook would not be alive today. I would of choked him to death on that field."
