MIAMI (CBSMiami) - An accident in Southwest Miami-Dade became a very close call for a four-year old boy asleep in his bed.

A Jeep Liberty crashed right into his room late Monday evening.

Cinder blocks, wood framing and glass were left hanging from all around the gaping hole the vehicle left once towed out of the home.

The bedroom was hit with such force it shoved the boy's bed across the room and knocked off the wooden foot board.
The four-year old, asleep under his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bedspread, was not hurt. He was, however, shaken up, according to his father Eric Stemen.

Stemen and other family members were home when the Jeep hit.

"We were all home and we heard a loud screeching, a loud boom and crashing and before we knew it there was a car halfway in our house," said Stemen.

They went running into the boy's room, fearing the worst.
"He was very scared. His eyes were wide awake when me and my wife came into the room. He didn't say anything, we just grabbed him and got out of there," said Stemen.

The force of the crash caused the airbags to go off. Stemen believes the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

He said the driver, who he believes is a neighbor, was emotional and thankful no one in the home was hurt and despite the damage to the house. Stemen is grateful his son survived. He said he survived "by the grace of God."

Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the crash or whether the driver will face charges.

The homeowners say they have to have the house inspected to ensure it's structurally sound before they decide whether it's safe to sleep there again.
