Cruise Lines Change Plans Due To TS Erika

MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  A number of cruise lines are opting to change their itineraries in response to Tropical Storm Erika.

As of Friday night, Carnival Cruise Lines had change the itineraries for various eight day and seven-day cruises scheduled to be in the Caribbean.

Many of the routes in which the cruise lines were set to be at sea were changed to be docked at another location. The changes are meant to keep passengers out of harms way and avoid any impact from the tropical storm.

As for Royal Caribbean, the company said they will continue to monitor the path and progress of the storm and have changed two of the cruise schedules.

Guests set to depart with the Freedom of the Seas have been asked to arrive to the ship between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The ship is now set to depart at 3:30 p.m.

Those set to travel on the Independence of the Seas will now depart Port Everglades at 3:00 p.m. Check in and boarding will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., according to the site.

While schedules have not been changed for the Enchantment of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas, those set to board have been asked to monitor the website for any possible changes.

Norwegian Cruise Line guests and crew are also being asked to monitor the storm's condition and check for updates on itinerary changes.

As of Saturday, those set to travel on Norwegian Getaway will now arrive in Cozumel, Mexico on Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Nassau, Bahamas on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Norwegian Gem's itinerary has also been changed. The guests are set to arrive Monday at 8 a.m. at the Royal Naval Dockyard, Bermuda and remain until Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Norwegian Sky's itinerary, which departed on Friday, will be in Nassau, Bahamas on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Key West, Florida on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
