MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A date turned violent in Miami after a man punched a woman, robbed her and ran away, according to police.

Now, Miami-Dade Police are searching for him and asking anyone with information to step forward.

Officers said, on June 9th, the 23-year old woman went out on a date with the "polite" man who is described as being somewhere in his 30s.

Later that night, just before 3 a.m.,  the man was dropping her off at her hotel located at 7685 N.W. 12 Street. He made sexual advances which she refused and ran into her room.

Police say the man then began banging on the door and sending her text messages telling her to let him in.

With the help of hotel management, the man was able to get in.

That's when, officers said, he started punching and kicking her before stealing her phone and wallet filled with $400. He then got away in a silver Cadillac Escalade.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of the man they are looking for. He is described as being about 5'9" - 5'11" tall and about 170 - 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
