Abramson: Dolphins Need Hot Start For Realistic Playoff Shot

Interviews-wqam

Branden Albert isn't yet 100 percent in his recovery from offseason knee surgery and Big O doesn't think he should return until he's close to it.

The Dolphins' early schedule may allow them to have some patience with the Pro Bowl tackle.

"You look at that early season schedule -- those are winnable games," the Palm Beach Post's Andrew Abramson said on the Big O Show. "I know they have a couple road games to start but you're talking about at Washington, at Jacksonville, then you get Buffalo at home, then you go to London to the play the Jets. Those are all winnable games so you're right, you don't want to rush him back...

"After that Week 4 you get the bye week. That end of the season -- I can't get over that brutal end-of-the-season schedule. First of all, having to close out against the Colts and Patriots possibly with the playoffs on the line. I mean I've said this before but I think the Dolphins need to jump out to like a 5-1 start if they want to realistically be a playoff team. Otherwise you're relying on yourself to win those last two games against the Colts and Patriots and we've seen they've been in that position the past two years where they have to win at the end and they haven't."
