OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) - Two men were rushed to the hospital after gunfire erupted in an Oakland Park warehouse area.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said they received calls about shots fired at 2935 NW 17th Terrace just before 1 p.m., according to department spokeswoman Dani Moschella.

The victim of the incident was inside of the office at the auto parts business at the address listed above when two men walked in and threatened him with a gun.

Authorities believe that the motive behind the shooting was robbery.

The victim was able to obtain possession of the gun and shoot one of the would-be robbers, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.  The victim was also shot during the incident.

"Both of those men were transported by Oakland Park Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center," said Moschella. They are both recovering from gunshot wounds.

The sound of the gunshots got the attention of a handful of shop owners in the small industrial center.

David Bentley, who heard the shots, headed towards the scene and found himself documenting it.

When asked if the gunshots shook him up, even though he is a combat vet, he responded " no, but it gets me to pay attention quickly. I pay attention to the surroundings and asses what's going on and do I need to move or not move."

Detectives are looking for a dark grey or black newer model BMW and at least one other suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to report it to Detective Trevor Goodwin at 954-321-4740 or call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
