Evans: Ndamukong Suh's Production vs. Playoff Teams is 'Nonexistent'

Interviews-wqam

Heath Evans continues to pound Ndamukong Suh, admitting that although he's a great player he's just not consistently dominant enough for the type of money the Dolphins are paying him.

"This guy is probably the second or third best interior lineman, period, the end," Evans said on the Joe Rose Show, "but if you look at his production vs. playoff teams it's nonexistent. I would say this -- he's basically the Chip Kelly of defensive linemen. When you play these just okay or decent teams, man he is a world-beater. And listen, you're not gonna find a GM or coach that's not scared of Ndamukong Suh. I'm not saying he's overrated, that he's just not this great player. No. He's a great player.

"It's been awhile since I've done this homework, but it's very close so I won't be too far off. I think there were six games last year that he played playoff teams. There was a half sack and I want to say two tackles or maybe three tackles in six games. So it's not about that the guy can't play, the guy is a monster that scares the mess out of people but you pay a guy that type of money -- J.J. Watt, what happens every time you turn on Texans tape? J.J. Watt, 99, J.J Watt, 99, 99, 99, 99 and it's not even just for making tackles or sacks or quarterback pressures it's him hooping and hollering with his teammates. It's him getting other people over to get sacks. It's him doing different things that make everyone around him better.

"Suh has to be dominate every single Sunday for that type of money and he's just not."

Is Evans right about Suh not dominating playoff teams?

Well, Suh played six games last year against playoff teams -- in Dallas, Arizona, Carolina, New England, and Green Bay (twice).

Pro Football Focus considered Detroit's wild-card matchup with Dallas as his second best performance of the season. Four of the six games were among Suh's Top 10 performances of 2015, with every performance receiving a positive grade but one (at Green Bay in Week 17).
