MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tom Cruise returns to the big screen in "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation."

In the franchise's fifth outing, the IMF is disbanded and Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise, is out in the cold. The team then faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents called the Syndicate. Their goal is to create a new world order through a series of terrorist attacks.

To help take them down, Hunt and his team joins forces with a disavowed British agent played by Rebecca Ferguson.

"What was that like when they said you've got it," CBS4's Lisa Petrillo asked Ferguson about getting the role of a lifetime.

"I was actually on a movie set wrapping it up when they called and I wasn't allowed to tell anyone. That was intense so I had to walk around not telling anyone," said Ferguson. "It was incredible. I'm "de-missioning" now thinking about everything that's happened."

What happened was intense. Cruise did all of his own hair raising stunts in the non-stop action thriller which required Ferguson to get physical.

"From the day I got the part they drove me to the gym and I think I did 5-6 hours, 6 days a week because there's so much to train," she said.

Petrillo asked Ferguson about the amount of coaching she received from Cruise.

"I think the coaching comes mostly from me watching him because it's his film. He makes sure he has all best coaches and trainers and won't step on people's toes. So, he'll let the trainers do their stuff and then I can watch what Tom does and I can ask questions," said Ferguson.

The actress said they hit the ground running on day of the shoot.

"We jumped off the rooftop of the opera house in Vienna on the first day of shooting," Ferguson explained.

Now she's waiting for her next big move - into theaters with this film she hopes will be a huge at the box office.|

"I'm gradually taking one interview at a time, one feeling at a time because I think you can't know what to expect. What I'm excited about is for people to see it and for me and my family to see it," she said.

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation opens in theaters Friday.
