Accused Bus Stop Hit-&-Run Driver Appears In Court

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A driver accused in a hit-and-run crash at a North Miami bus stop appeared in court Sunday.
Police said Devon James was driving with Aquicresha Gibson in the car when it slammed into bus stop near NE 125th Street and NE 12th Avenue on Friday morning, injuring four people.
Once the crash happened, police said, they ran off and left the car behind.

One of the victims was "pinned between the vehicle and the bus bench," according to James' arrest report.
James is now facing charges with leaving the scene of the crash with injuries.
Gibson was inside the car, which is under her name, at the time of the crash but had let James, her boyfriend, drive it even though, police said, she was "fully aware her boyfriend did not have a valid drivers license," states Gibson's arrest report.
She is facing a charge of allowing a non-licensed driver to operate her registered vehicle.
According to his arrest report, James is on probation and was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the crash which pinpointed him at the location of the crash at the exact time it happened.
It goes on to say, they were able to track him down using data from the ankle monitor and take him into custody.
Investigators said, while they questioned him, he told them, "he was intoxicated at the time of the crash and fled the scene because he knew his Florida ID card was suspended and he didn't want to have any involvement with the police while on probation," according to the report.
James has no Florida driver's license and two suspensions on record, the report states.
The 20-year-old is being held without bond for violating felony probation.
