West Cost Man Shot In Dispute Over Cats, Bird

PORT RICHEY (CBSMiami/AP) — Pasco County deputies were forced to fire on a man after he threatened them with rifle.

It began with began with a fight between Frank Rogers, 56, and his neighbor. Rogers claimed claimed the woman's cats posed a threat to his bird, "Minnie."

Deputies say Rogers went to the woman's house Monday evening armed with a rifle and forced his way inside. She was able to escape.

Deputies soon arrived and say they ordered Rogers to drop his weapon but he threatened them. They opened fire, hitting him numerous times. Sheriff's spokesman Eddie Daniels says he was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Daniels says Rogers could face numerous charges.
