Marlins Option Marcell Ozuna To Triple-A New Orleans

CHICAGO (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins have not been getting the kind of hitting that was expected from some of the team's young core this season.
One of those players, starting center fielder Marcell Ozuna, has been mired in an awful slump over the past few weeks.
Ozuna went hitless on Sunday in Chicago, his fifth straight game without a hit and the ninth time in his last ten games.
On the heels of his latest poor performance at the plate, the Marlins have optioned Ozuna down to their Triple-A team in New Orleans.
Despite the struggles, Ozuna still has a respectable .249/.301/.337 slash line with four home runs and 26 RBIs.
Another thing to take into consideration is that the Marlins aren't exactly deep at the outfielder position. Fourth outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has been slumping as well and isn't an exciting option to replace Ozuna in the lineup.
Something that manager Dan Jennings may want to consider is plugging Michael Morse, who came off the disabled list last weekend, into the outfield instead of at first base, where he played exclusively until getting hurt.
Justin Bour has been starting at first base and is swinging a hot bat, hitting a home run in four consecutive games last week, so replacing him with Morse may not be a popular decision.
