HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Police are in Hollywood investigating the death of an 90-year-old woman.

Hollywood Police are looking into Helen Townsend's death, found dead Monday.

Alan Beal, the maintenance man at the complex, found Helen Townsend dead inside her apartment on Fillmore Street in Hollywood Monday around 8:30 AM and called police.

Beal said Townsend was always worried and stayed alert, "that was her thing. Being a security guard."

"I go in there every morning. I do a lot of stuff with her. Basically I'm like her son. I went in there this morning and I see her lying on the floor," Beal said.

Police said there were no obvious signs of cause of death, but it could be suspicious in nature.

Despite Townsend's age, Beal said something just doesn't seem right.

"The only thing is the drapes because her drapes were always open and they were closed. That was the only thing suspicious to me," he said.

Many of neighbors were shocked, said that despite her age she seemed okay.

"She was a good person and she just celebrated her 90th birthday on the 3rd of June. And her brain is like a 25-year-old person," said neighbor Fay Mitchell.

Neighbors said Townsend was still outside chatting until about 11 PM Sunday night.

"My son saw her yesterday evening and she was in good spirits and good health so this is surprising," said Mitchell.

Police won't say what it is about her death that may be suspicious but have said they are conducting a death investigation.
