Josh Richardson Wants to be a Lockdown Defender in NBA

Interviews-wqam

Josh Richardson, the Miami Heat's 40th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, isn't your typical NBA rookie. He likes playing the piano and didn't really picture himself as an NBA player until recently.

"It's definitely different," Richardson said of his first few days as an NBA player on the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz. "I didn't really picture it ever happening until a couple of years ago so it's just been moving pretty fast these past couple years but it's been great."

Richardson says converting to a point guard his senior season was a "tough transition" initially but it he's "matured a lot from it." Known more for his defensive prowess than anything else, the 6-foot-6 combo guard wouldn't mind being a Bruce Bowen-type at the next level.

"Yeah, I think that'd be a great thing to be known by," Richardson said, "especially in a league that's turning into sort of a defensive league. Defenders are starting to get a lot more recognition. I think I can valued as one eventually."

Now Richardson has his eyes on Summer League, where he'll be out to improve his shooting as he looks to make Miami's roster next season.
