OPA LOCKA (CBSMiami) – Four young people are in the hospital after a shooting in Opa-locka Monday night, police said.

Opa-locka and Miami-Dade police cordoned off two scenes.

One was an apartment complex off of NW 135th St. and 30th Ave. and a convenience store a block away.

The four teens were shot at the apartment complex and one of them somehow made it across busy 135th street to the convenience for help.

"I understand that someone came up and opened fire," said Opa-locka Assistant City Manager David Shiverton. "I believe one of the victims came across the street seeking assistance."

Authorities said the victims are between the ages of 12-18, with the oldest being 18.

All four are in the hospital, but their conditions are unknown.

Police still trying to piece together what happened, as well as hoping for a description of the shooter – who is still on the run.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers (305)471-TIPS (8477).
