Car Hauler Killed In Pompano Beach

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) - A Miami man died after he was he was hit by a car while unloading vehicles from a car hauler on Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach.

Just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday Ivan Figueras-Pino, 37, pulled the tractor trailer over to the side of the road to unload a car. After putting on his hazard lights, he lowered the ramp on the car hauler and then went to the back of the truck and began removing the chains from a vehicle on the top rack.

As he was doing so, a Hyundai Accent, driven by Joshua Stein, drove up the lowered ramp and slammed into Figueras-Pino. It did not appear that he attempted to stop or swerve to avoid the car hauler, according to Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide detectives.

Figueras-Pino was taken to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Stein was treated for minor injuries and released from Broward Health North.
