BROWARD (CBSMiami) – A man high flakka told Broward deputies he broke into several apartments because he was being chased by a "secret agency."

At 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Irakli Matcharashvili heard his mother screaming and saw a strange man tugging on the sliding glass door on her patio.

"She was holding the glass door," he said, "because the other was already open and she was holding like this and the guy was trying to open from the other side."

Investigators said the man who was trying to get in was Anthony Demps.

Irakli ran after him. He said Demps tried to break in to other apartments along the way.

"When he was running, he was trying to get to the other apartments," he said. "He was like turning, trying to open the door and when it was not open, he would continue to run."

Investigators said he tried to get into six apartments, beginning with a ground floor unit a few buildings away from Irakli.

He left torn screen left behind.

When he couldn't get in, witnesses said he scaled the patio to the second floor, got caught, jumped down and ran.

He got into an apartment two buildings away.

"One man was in his bedroom and heard his sliding glass door open, heard his kitchen drawers being opened and closed, went out and saw Demps in his kitchen," said Broward Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman Dani Moschella.

Shortly after that he was arrested, BSO said he admitted this whole ordeal came after a night of smoking flakka.

"He told the deputy that he was worried a secret federal government was after him and trying to take his daughter away," Moschella said.

"He was talking a lot of stupid things," Irakli said. "'They are chasing me, they following me.'" remembered Demps saying.

This isn't his first time Demps is in trouble.  His arrests go back to a crime spree in 2009 and an arrest after that in 2014.

Currently, he faces six new burglary charges and 11 other warrants or violation of probation charges.
