MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A couple from Ohio wanted for questioning in Miami motel murder have been taken into custody.

Michael Douglas Evans, 30, and his 34-year old wife Kristy and her seven-year old daughter Jala were picked up by U.S. Marshals at a Motel 6 in Hays, Kansas Thursday night.

On June 6th, the body of Joseph Moniz was found in a pool of blood in a room at the Sunshine Inn Motel off the 4800 block of West Flagler Street. The Evans had checked into the same motel room May 29th.

Moniz's body was discovered by a hotel employee who stopped by the room to collect rent from Evans only to learn that the family had taken off.

Evans was wanted by Ohio authorities after he skipped town while under house arrest while awaiting trial for allegedly attacking a man with a hammer. A relative said Evans cut his ankle monitor and took off with his wife and step daughter.

The couple will be extradited to Ohio to face charges.  Jala is in the custody of child services and will be returned to Ohio where she'll most likely be placed with her maternal grandmother.
