CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The University of Miami Hurricanes baseball team is one win away from returning to the College World Series in Omaha – for the first time since 2008. And while fans were there to cheer on the team, there is another star of the show down at Alex Rodriguez Park… the milkshakes!

For 30 years the Mark Light Shakes have been a University of Miami baseball tradition.

"It used to be down the first base line in a portable tent, and it started with three shakes at $2," said an employee. "Now it's grown to over, to I think, 30  or 40 flavors."

For Mitch Freedman and his family, these shakes have become a labor of love.

"We blend nonfat yogurt with real ice cream – it gives it a particular smoothness," said Freedman.

And Freedman doesn't skimp on the ingredients.

"If you get a banana shake, you get bananas in it. If you get an apple pie shake, you get real apple pie. If you get a bacon maple donut shake, you get a bacon maple donut in it," he said.

Whether you're new to a Canes' baseball game or are a seasoned vet, one thing is for certain, you can't leave without trying one of these legendary shakes.

"Every time we come, we get a shake. For years we have been coming to baseball games, always have a shake," said a fan.

One fan waiting in line for a shake said he has heard legends about them. And those lines, he said, could have 100 fans at a time.

Even hurricanes basketball star Angel Rodriguez waited in the long line for his first taste.

"I have been in line for about 20 minutes, but they said it was worth it," said Rodriguez.
