CHIEFLAND, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) - A Florida teen was knocked unconscious by a sturgeon while boating with family over the weekend.

Heavyn Nash, a 14-year-old from Fanning Springs, was boating with family Sunday in Manatee Springs State Park, on the Suwanee River, when a sturgeon up to 6-feet-long leapt into the boat, knocking her out.

This is the second sturgeon strike in two weeks on a north Florida river.

The sturgeon are jumping just as they have for millions of years, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Occasionally boaters get in their way.
