MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A boat slammed into a light tower off Miami's coast, landing two people in the hospital.

Miami Fire Rescue officials said the 20 to 30 foot boat crashed into the tower Saturday morning.

Two 18-year old men were on board at the time of the crash.

"These two 18 year olds somehow did not see this light tower. I'm not sure if the marking lights were on, but the boat ended up going through the frame of the lighthouse and came to rest on the other side," explained Captain Ignatius Carroll, with Miami Fire Rescue.

When rescue crews arrived, they found one man unconscious and the other with facial injuries.

Both were taken to Kendall Regional Hospital. No word yet on their condition.

It is still unclear what caused the crash.

Just hours later, a woman and a man on a personal watercraft, crashed into the Venetian Causeway bridge in Miami Beach.

It all happened around 12:30 p.m.

Rufus Hemingway is a friend of the victims and was riding a personal watercraft behind theirs. "I turned around to make sure the boat that was behind me wasn't too close and when I looked ahead all I see is them hit the side of the railing under the bridge, right under the bridge, and I just turned my jet ski off real quick and jumped in the water," he said.

The woman was scraped during the accident. The man had some injuries to his arms and knees.

"There was blood leaking from all over his arm. He had scratch wounds, I guess from the railing, and his knee was in a lot of pain so I was basically helping him stay in place until the rescue boat came," added Hemingway.

Both victims are in their 20's and from Connecticut.

No word on what caused them to crash into the bridge.
