Man Arrested For Alleged Kidnapping Near FIU To Appear In Court

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The man arrested for allegedly kidnapping a college student from a bus stop near Florida International University's campus is expected to go before a judge Tuesday afternoon.
Carlos Arana, 42, was booked into jail Monday night and charged with armed kidnapping.
The victim told police that a man pulled up at the bus stop at SW 107th Avenue and SW 17th Street on May 15th at 11:30 AM.
Arana reportedly told the student he was a masseuse and offered her a ride to her job, but she declined.
The girl told police that Arana kept pestering her about giving her a lift. After several requests, the student said Arana threatened her by saying, "I have a knife, get in the car." Scared for her life, the girl said she got in Arana's car.

The police report states Arana began driving towards Dolphin Mall where the girl worked. Along the way, he allegedly began fondling the victim's breasts over her blouse. The student said she had to repeatedly push his hands of her.
Arana also reportedly grabbed the victim's cellphone out her hands and said, "Let me dial my number on your phone," which he proceeded to do.
According to the police report, Arana gave the student her phone back, told her to go to work and told her his name was "Oliver."
As Arana drove away, the girl was able to write down the tag of Arana's vehicle, which was an older model white Jeep Cherokee.
Arana is facing an armed kidnapping charge.
