DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – During a traffic stop Monday a man reportedly  bailed from his car, leaving two infants inside, and barricaded himself inside a home until SWAT moved-in and took him into custody.

"The suspect in this case decided not to comply with the traffic stop. He decided to jam his car into park. He fled from the vehicle immediately. He ran a couple blocks to his home," said Gina Carter with BSO.

When deputies looked inside the car, they found two children, a 4-month-old and a 1-year-old, inside. Both flew forward when Ricardo Ilus put the car in park.

"The 4-month-old was actually discovered underneath the driver's seat," Carter said.

Police said the children were not injured but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Ilus, wanted on two felony warrants and who police said is considered dangerous, was taken into custody Monday around 11 AM.

A woman, who did not want to be identified, said she's related to Ilus and that she couldn't believe the news. She said "he's the best father in the world."

"The suspect has a history of fleeing from police, he also has a history of cocaine possession, aggravated assault, domestic violence," Carter said.

BSO officials said Ilus's new charges include two counts of child neglect, aggravated assault on an officer, resisting with violence, fleeing, two counts of child car seat violations and several traffic violations.
