MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The family of a man who was found shot to death on a Miami street has made an emotional plea to the public for help in finding his killer.

On Monday, May 4th, police received word of a shooting at 619 SW 7th Avenue just after 7 a.m.

When officers arrived they found 44-year old Allan Vigil who had been shot. Miami Fire Rescue was requested. When paramedics arrived, they pronounced Vigil dead on the scene.

On Thursday, tears flowed as Vigil's mother, father, brother and ex-wife pleaded for help in finding the person who filed the fatal shot.

"My brother was devoted to his family and I can't believe this is happening. I'm just blown away by the fact that we are here," said Allan's brother Christian Vigil.

Some of Vigil's family flew in from Texas. They said he was a doting father of three little girls.

Vigil, a carpenter, was walking home after an overnight shift when someone gunned him down.

"A mother doesn't wan to lose her son like this," said Allan's mother Maria, "he should not have died that way."

"I don't have the words," said Allans' faher Jorge, "There's a burning pain inside me, I want to scream 'why, why'."

The family said they couldn't understand why someone would want to kill Allan.

"He didn't have any enemies, he was liked by everybody," said Christian Vigil.

Police believe Vigil may have been the victim of a botched robbery attempt.

Anyone with information which could help police solved this murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
