NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Two of the four juveniles arrested for allegedly robbing a beauty supply store over the weekend appeared before a judge Wednesday.

The young suspects, arrested Tuesday, are accused of stealing about $5,000 worth of hair extensions from Discount Beauty Supply at 1601 NE 163rd Street just before 6 PM Saturday.

Police said a 16-year-old, along with two other boys ages 12 and 14 and an 11-year-old girl, walked into the store, removed hair extensions from the storage room in the back of the store and then placed them in a backpack.

The employees said that when they confronted them, one of the boys pulled out a firearm from underneath his shirt.

The oldest of the bunch, the 16-year-old, was one of the suspects that appeared before the judge Wednesday.

"He is a good kid, he just hangs with the wrong crowd," the boy's mother said.

The 11-year-old girl was allowed to leave the Juvenile Detention Center wearing a monitoring device.

"If you should violate that, if you're not home when you're supposed to be home, and you leave the house, you leave me no choice but to bring you back into secured detention," Judge Orlando Prescott said.

Her mother walked out of court smiling, but didn't have much to say.

"She don't want to talk. It's not good to talk right now," she said.

On May 13 the suspects' attorneys will appear in court.

All four are scheduled appeared in court on May 26.
