MIAMI (CBSMiami) –  The search is on for a man police said abducted a Miami Dade college student and robbed her at gunpoint.

Police released a computerized sketch of the man in hopes someone recognizes him.

As the investigation continues, students are questioning how safe they are.

"I feel pretty safe but I don't know that kind of scared me for the parking garage," said student Madeline Reyes.

Fellow student, Stephanie Valdes said she is considering buying a taser.

"It could be anyone on the campus now. We wouldn't know who it is. That makes it ten times worse that he gets dropped off in a public place," said Valdes.

The attack happened at the college's south campus on SW 104th Street on April 28th around 10:30 a.m.

The woman said she was in her car in garage L when a man with a gun got inside with her. The man, described as being around 5'4″ and 125 pounds with a full beard, abducted the 19-year old woman at gunpoint, forced her to drive to a bank and then directed her to withdraw money from an ATM.

The woman drove to a nearby by ATM and tried to get money, but the withdrawal failed. She then drove to a drive-thru ATM at the Chase Bank at SW 128th Street and South Dixie Highway where she withdrew a few hundred dollars.

After taking the woman's money, the man demanded that he be dropped off back on campus.

The woman told police her assailant appeared to be in his early 20s and he was wearing a green and orange baseball cap, beige long sleeve US Army camouflage shirt with faded black cargo pants and a black backpack.

On Wednesday, Miami Dade College (MDC)  issued a statement on the attack, saying  "Safety and security on Miami Dade College Campuses are a top priority at MDC. Given the high volume of students and activities at MDC, the college has very safe campuses. The incident in question is part of an ongoing investigation and there is not much on which we can comment. The reported incident appears to be a very isolated occurrence."

The students Zea spoke with were concerned that they were not alerted to the incident immediately.

"I would hope they would have sent it out right away you know. There are students walking around, be aware like there's something going on. I mean, I guess they didn't want to worry the students, but the students should know what's going on on their own campus," said Reyes.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers (305)471-TIPS (8477) or (866) 471-8477 or send a text message to 274637. Enter CSMD followed by the tip information and press send.
