MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- One woman drowned and another is hospitalized after getting pulled under the water at Miami Beach Sunday.

Witnesses say the women were part of a group visiting from New York.  Four of the women reportedly went into the water but two didn't come out. The others started walking along the beach looking for help, according to beachgoers.

"They said they were looking for their friends so everybody started looking," said Indira Llanos.

"The rescuers on the jet skis they went straight to the girls with the boat and you could tell the girls were already floating," said Llanos.

"They brought them out, started doing CPR. It looked pretty serious," added John Alexander Gomez.

Both women were rushed to the hospital where police say one died.

Cell phone video shows police on the beach just after the commotion.

Witnesses said the other women in the group were heartbroken.

"The girl was crying and she started screaming saying, 'I told you not to get into the water. None of you listened to me.' It was terrible," recalled Anabelis Rodriguez.

"I spoke to the sister of one of them. I was with them for a whole hour. The girl she was devastated," said Llanos.

Although she never met the women affected by this tragedy before, Llanos says her thoughts are with them.

"I just hope that God can put some peace into their heart," she said.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims or the condition of the surviving victim.
