Another Grass Fire Breaks Out In SW Dade

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A grass fire that broke out on Sunday in Southwest Miami-Dade is under control, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Hot spots continue to burn into the night, but crews are standing watch, dousing the flames.
Those who live nearby noticed a huge difference in just a few hours' time.
"We came back home tonight. It don't even smell like it's been on fire," said Tisha Smith, who was attending a family birthday party Sunday afternoon, when they decided to take the kids elsewhere. "It was too smoky, so we ended up leaving and then came back tonight. It was kind of clear. We don't smell it as bad as it did. It don't smell like anything now."

The blaze started at around 1:30 p.m. near 224th Street and SW 117th Avenue.
At the height of the firefight, about 20 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units, along with Florida Forest Service crews, responded to the 50-acre brush fire.
Authorities said no mandatory evacuation orders were issued, but some residents decided to leave on their own.
Video taken by a drone shows just how close the brush fire, which surrounded a residential neighborhood, got to homes.
That caused major concern for those whose homes were feet away from the fire.
"If it would have been closer, it would probably got a hold of the house and melt the shingles on the house," said Yugine Smith, whose home is across the street from the brush fire.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also tweeted out a picture of a dog crews saved. The canine was chained to a tree and was in the path of flames.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said that Sunday's fire is unrelated to the 150-acre brush fire Saturday night, though they are close in proximity.
There were no reported injuries in either fire.
