Marc James on Canes: 'The University of Mediocrity'

Interviews-wqam

Some NFL Draft analysts think as many as three Miami Hurricanes could be selected in the first round tonight, a feat the U hasn't accomplished since 2007.

So many are scratching their heads as to why the Hurricanes haven't made serious noise yet in the win-loss column under Al Golden. Marc James and Randy Cross of 92.9 The Game in Atlanta joined the Marc Hochman Show with Zach Krantz out in Vegas for Mayweather-Pacquiao, and James, a Miami alum, seems pretty irked there hasn't been major changes to the Canes' coaching staff yet.

"6-7, I'm going to give the numbers just to let everybody know -- 28-22 is the same identical record as Randy Shannon after four years," James said. "He got run out like a war criminal. Period. Al Golden's 16-16 in a horrible conference in the ACC. He's 18-21 versus teams in the Power 5 conferences. The University of Miami since really 2004 has turned into the University of Mediocrity."

"I just don't believe in him. He's not the guy. Why prolong the inevitable?"

The question is whether the Canes churning out so many high-level NFL prospects will help or hurt Golden's program.
