FLORIDA CITY (CBSMiami) – An escaped inmate is headed back to Monroe County to face new charges after he was apprehended in Florida City on Sunday.

Employees at a local business in Florida City tipped off police that they had potentially seen 37-year-old Sean Michael Stacey.

Florida City Police blanketed the area and setup a perimeter. Stacey was found in the 400 block of US-1 and taken into custody where he resisted arrest.

Stacey was working outside the Plantation Key Jail as a maintenance trusty for Monroe County Public Works when he went missing on Friday.

Stacey, according to Monroe County Sheriff's Office, had last been seen in the area of High Point Road on Plantation Key at 4 p.m. His orange jumpsuit had been recovered nearby.

Stacey has been in jail since September 2014 on charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.
